In 2013, Chorley Council purchased Market Walk with ambitious plans to develop the mall and bring even more shops and retail space to Chorley town centre.

In late 2019 Market Walk shopping centre, in the heart of Chorley town centre, opened it’s new purpose-built extension on the Flat Iron, to include a six-screen Reel Cinema, Escape Entertainment Venue (including ten-pin bowling, adventure golf and restaurant), Calico Lounge and M&S Food Hall and later Sports Direct.
As a result of all this work, the Tuesday market relocated to the streets of Chorley which has proved popular so far with traders and shoppers.
